Tell me something new (Week 1)

Posted by: admin In: APOC

whitehouseoldSince today is the inauguration, I guess it is appropriate to direct your attention to something provocative (and at least for me, very funny). The comparison of the White House website today vs. when Bush took office 8 years ago: Via Gizmodo. Great example to show how far the Internet has advanced. The plain html 8 years ago vs. the meta data, xhtml goodness of today (hint: right click view page source). It is actually quite funny to see how horrible the White House website looked 8 years ago.

Another interesting thing that is more related to online communities, is the Microsoft Photosynth for the inauguration. It is a mesh-up for all the photos to give you the experience of being there. Think google maps street view except for events. CNN actually used the technology for their coverage, which you can check out at their website. Now is your chance to be featured on CNN!

About

Welcome to my blog! I am an APOC student at the University of Southern California, and the truth is that this blog is part of my course requirement. However, I will do my best to make it as useful and informative as possible, and be more active on this blog than any of my other blogs...

I love tweaking with Wordpress layouts and web design in general, so maybe I will post some tips and links to resources and sites I like. I will try my best not to bring in too much from the anime and manga industry (and you know I am a big fan if you check out my anime list), though I am a believer that fan culture strives on the internet more than any other channel, and the study of fan culture is one of the topics that really fascinates me.

I also playes video games (like wow), loves to travel and I consider myself an ill-informed food snob. So enjoy your visit!
